The passing of a king is typically a time of uneasiness which can expose misplaced confidence in any mortal ruler (cf. Ps 2). It is no coincidence, therefore, that Isaiah is allowed to see God seated on a throne, high and exalted, since this picture stands in such stark contrast to the weakness and impermanence of Uzziah at the time of his death.
